Organic steel cut oatmeal porridge is one of the easy choices for breakfast. You do not need to soak it. It takes 30 minutes to cook. Can be cooked on the previous night and just warmed up in the morning. Adding a little bit of water will recreate its soft consistency and make the warm-up on the range very easy. (I do not use microwave for cooking or warming up food). Chia seeds and roasted almonds will provide additional healthy fat and protein.
- 1 cup – organic steel cut oatmeal
- 3 cups – natural spring water
- 1/4 tsp – sea salt
Cooking Instructions for Oatmeal Porridge:
Steel Cut Oatmeal does not require soaking before cooking.
Boil water in a stainless steel cooking pot, add sea salt and oatmeal. When it starts boiling again – remove the foam with a strainer. Reduce heat and simmer with lid on for 30 minutes.
You can use these 30 minutes to do other things (put on makeup, pray, pack lunches, blanch broccoli).
Turn off the flame. Mix the porridge with a wooden spoon to reach an even consistency. Serve hot with chia seeds,roasted almonds, blanched broccoli and fresh or defrosted organic berries. I used black currant for this recipe.
Cooking Instructions for Blanched Broccoli:
Wash and check broccoli. Put in boiling water for 30-50 seconds. Remove from the pot and place on a cool plate. Add freshly squeezed lemon juice, a few drops of brown rice vinegar and fresh or defrosted organic berries ( raspberries, black currant, blueberries )
